The Canon PowerShot G9 Digital Camera - Any Good?

!±8± The Canon PowerShot G9 Digital Camera - Any Good?

The Canon PowerShot G9 Digital Camera is the upgraded version of the digital compact G7 and was released by Canon in August of 2007. It is Canon's flagship point & shoot digital camera. What's it like though?

This fine piece of equipment is a 12 megapixel digital camera with a 6x optical zoom lens, the same 6x optically-stabilised zoom as its predecessor which delivers an equivalent range of 35-210mm. Offering the perfect blend of anti-glare and optical clarity known as ClearTouch Anti-Glare, this is real world screen protection at its finest. Plus, it is compatible with a range of optional lens accessories, including wide angle lenses.

The Canon Powershot G9 is the sort of elegant, very capable, and completely self-contained imaging tool which may capture your attention. It's loaded with a number of great features such as RAW + JPEG images, an optical view finder, face detection, 6x optical zoom and image stabilization. It comes to you with rechargeable Li-ion NB-2LH batteries giving an approximate life of 240 shots or 420 minutes playback.

If you don't have enough money another similar option would be the Nikon Coolpix P5100, but the Canon PowerShot G9 is a very well built camera possibly designed for those amateurs who are getting a little more serious about the photographs they take, but don't have the budget or inclination to move up to the more expensive and demanding world of SLR (single lens reflex) photography.

The Canon Powershot G9 is the kind of camera that not only makes you feel like a better photographer, but helps you become one too, mixing both comprehensive and happily reliable hand-holding features with a plethora of real photographic controls that, along with build quality, at times exceeds that offered by many - if not most - budget digital SLRs.
